SIPS - Structural Insulated Panels
Structural Insulated panels represent a fast, simple and cost-effective alternative to wet build construction and require the most advanced manufacturing techniques.
SIPs can make excellent roofing systems, complex or sophisticated roofs are often created using engineered Trussed Rafters, also factory-made. The versatility of marrying SIPs with timber construction is a welcome feature of their ease of use.
With a rigid central core, sandwiched between two layers of sheet material, a panels structural composition can be compared to that of an I-Beam. Because the rigid core is bonded to the outer skins, the panel sections can be assembled to create walls, floors and roofs.
The panels are relatively lightweight, meaning cantilevers are no problem when building with SIPs. And, panel construction adapts easily for differing foundation and site types.
